Summer Skin Tips - Part 1

Summer skincare can feel a little different. With the heat and humidity here in Ontario, our skin naturally shifts, often needing less, but still benefiting from consistent care.

I tend to keep my routine simple and use the same core products year round, but I do make a few small adjustments in the summer months. These subtle changes help keep my skin balanced, hydrated, and glowing.

Here are a few ways you can support your skin through the warmer season:

  1. Use less product
Because of the humidity in Ontario, I find my skin is naturally more hydrated, so I do not need as much serum or face cream, whether that is Happy Skin Face Cream or my Hyperpigmentation and Fine Line Reducing Vit C Night Cream.

Play around with how much product your skin wants in the summer. Try using one quarter to one half less in the morning and at night, and notice how your skin responds.

  2. Add water or Rose Water to your products
This is something I do all year round, but it becomes especially important in the summer when hydration is key.

When you add water or Rose Water, it activates your oil based 2% Bio Retinol Custom Face Serum. The secret to hydrating your skin with pure, concentrated plant oils is to always apply them on damp skin, or to add a few spritzes of Rose Water directly to your serum.

You will see it gently emulsify in your hand, creating a soft, raw cream. This allows the powerful phyto nutrients in the Rose Water to blend beautifully with the oils to nourish, hydrate, and support your skin.

  3. Support your skin with a Custom Face Serum
Adding a 2% Bio Retinol Custom Face Serum to your routine in the summer helps your skin stay resilient. All of my custom serums contain a high concentration of omegas and antioxidants, which support your skin in recovering from sun exposure and maintaining a healthy glow.

If you are noticing changes in your skin right now, it may be time for me to tweak your formula. Your skinโ€™s needs often shift from season to season, so keeping it balanced may mean adjusting the ingredients to calm sun exposed skin or support congestion from sunscreen and sweat.

Simply send me a note if you would like an updated formula. If you do not yet have a custom serum, you can order a 1st Time 2% Bio Retinol Custom Face Serum on my website.

  4. Do not skip your evening moisturizer
After a day in the sun, your skin benefits from nourishment and repair. I know summer routines can feel a little less structured, and I often hear that many of you feel the same way. Just do your best to come back to this step when you can.

I highly recommend moisturizing with my Hyperpigmentation and Fine Line Reducing Vit C Night Cream. This formula combines potent botanical extracts and active ingredients to support brightening and skin renewal. Mulberry, Bearberry, and Licorice Root help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation. Vitamin C supports collagen production and enhances radiance, and Niacinamide helps calm redness, strengthen the skin barrier, and improve overall tone and texture.

Taking care of your skin in the summer does not have to be complicated. A few small, mindful adjustments can make all the difference. Listen to your skin, stay consistent where you can, and allow your routine to feel supportive rather than strict.

If you ever feel unsure about what your skin needs, I am always here to help guide you.
